so after six years on the air at my current station, and nine altogether in radio, i have officially been taken off the air. as i was told, it was through no fault of my own, but apparently the way of the future does not involve part time talent after all.
i could ramble on and on about my thoughts on the state of radio today and whatnot, but i haven't got the time right now- i need to start pursuing another of those childhood dreams of mine- international supermodel. think anyone will notice if i start wearing serious platform shoes on a daily basis? i'm about 8 inches shorter than the minimum height requirement in most countries......

That sucks! I'm so sorry to hear that. Now there are two blogging radio chicks out of work... hope you can find radio work real soon! Nine years in radio... that should count for something.
I see them switching formats soon without you there! I'm guessing it'll be easy listening, and your hot voice would just be too much for the brain dead drones that listen to that crap. ;-) Let us know when you find a new station, I'll tune in, online at least. :-)
That sucks, and not in the right way. Will you still be working for them in some other capacity? Such as hot billboard chick?
stef: i'm still working...just not on the air. now, i'm basically an over-qualified button pusher.
bite me: believe me, if i wind up back on the air, you'll be the first to know.
rover: i'm afraid your situation has me topped in the suckage department, but i appreciate the sympathy.
as it stands right now, i'm still working at the two other clear channel stations, but nothing on the air. so, while i still have a little bit of part time income to supplement my full time income (which, hopefully, will add up to enough for me to keep my apartment, since SO's now living in charleston and i'm stuck paying my $725 rent by myself), the thrill is, well, pretty much gone.
overqualified button pusher... sounds like you're running boards or something. Do you even get to fill in for other jocks when they can't be there?
And why is SO living in Charleston? Oh, maybe that's none of my beeswax, huh?
I visited Charleston once, when there was still a navy base there (I don't know if it is still there or not). The trip was memorable in that my then 2 year old son cried all the way there, stopped crying while we were there for the day, then cried all the way back to Augusta, GA where we were living at the time (20 years ago or so, since said son will be 22 in March)
stef: running boards is exactly what i'm doing now. Since we're low on jocks who are actually physically here, filling in doesn't really happen much.
SO moved to run the websites at the clear channel cluster in charleston. i'm too stubborn to move, especially since my jobs, friends, et cetera are here.
